Everyone Is Flying

I had to buy my special priced bullet train tickets for my trip next weekend.
I went to the recent MATTA Fair at the Putra World Trade Centre and it was so packed
with thousands of holiday makers. My first visit to this fair was like 10 years ago
and it was at smaller scale then. This 2014's fair was expanded many folds
and made me speechless!

We both brought an aunt & her rich husband who tagged along to look see while
we purchased our train tickets. Tourists visiting Japan could only purchase
discounted fares outside of Japan and that's a bit strange to me.
We could always use our passports to prove our foreigner status to purchase them
inside Japan but they don't allow.

We had to wait for so long to get our tickets as we were the first customer
looking for train tickets to tour the regions of Kyushu Island while everyone else
aimed at the popular Osaka & Tokyo areas.

The whole travel fair was like a colourful carnival with so many freebies and mascots walking everywhere!

The crab on display was so huge and attractive but No Thanks!
The recent Fukushima spills really scared me and I better be safe than sorry.

We met up with my aunt & hubby later and they bought tickets for themselves for vacations.
They persuaded us to go along with them for ONE TRIP and we agreed.
HAVE FUN & GUESS BELOW!

    3. Your currency is so strong now and Singaporeans are flying everywhere cheaply like peanut fares!!
Where are you going soon? Sibu?? No need to buy that ticket from Natas la! LOL

  3. I also wanted to Matta Fair but it was too far for me, hmm actually it's due to time constraint la! I visited the fair once and it was so interesting!

  4. i think i have been to the MATTA Fair once, and that was like 10 years ago, and since then i never been to any of their fair again.. too packed with people, too much choice, and things may not be as cheap as we would expect, and then very limited traveling dates.. i might just as well do my own bookings since i always travel on my own and not in those packages, that explains why i do not go there, furthermore i remember admission is not free like many other fairs..

    1. I don't bother hahaha.

I usually just browse the papers or check online as the travel agents also have them advertised.

Then again, I don't go holidays on tour.

Oops... let me rephrase that... I don't go overseas for holiday. Muahaha

    2. Usually matta hv good deals. But I takut the traffic jam there. Prev ..we check cheap flights online n buy

      Delete
    3. Not really true that they offer very good deals. The whole year they will offer good deals too. The organizers are reaping money by renting out booths.

Who says Mak Glam doesn't go overseas for holidays??? Adoi she camped all over Japan like 2nd Home!

    4. ya ka...But i heard friends said they got additional freebies like free entrances for place to visit when they sign up at Matta fair...kena bluff la....:(

      Delete
    5. I am not very sure about all these claims as there were over 100 booths! i could not check them out all otherwise the promoters would ground me to sign up!!

  5. i didn't know we can get the train passes outside Japan and surprisingly it's cheaper with discounts specially for foreigners?? hmmm, rather weird as i would think with a passport we can get our passes in Japan itself!! that's pretty common sense right?? who would have thought to get the passes out of Japan before you travel?? haha.. anyway, thanks for sharing this info, but if i ever go to Japan again, i guess i will still stick with my friend who knows Japan well and leave every chores to him.. hehe!!

    2. haha, i didn't know.. that's the bad thing i had a "guide" to plan everything for us for the past two trips to Japan.. i admit i just blindly followed~~ :p

    4. SK is lucky to have a tour leader to advise him. That would save lots of time and money too!
Yes you might forget many things after a trip when one follows a tour leader cos no need to think and hit walls like me.

      Delete
    5. But if free and easy you will get to go the places you wanna go leh as compared to follow tour.

      Delete
    6. It is definitely more fun and relaxed to go free & easy. Sometimes we could save lots of $$$ too.

  6. hmmm, sure all the participating agency will have freebies and goodies for the visitors, else you may not lure people to stop by, haha!! and i saw many people carrying the MATTA Fair bag in town during that few day, being a cheapskate Uncle like me, i almost wanted to head straight to the fair because i am so attracted by those freebies, muahahaha!! but in the end, of course that was just a thought dei, no action taken..

    1. Lol...I hv one such bag. Friend went previous year and gave me one such bag

  7. that huge crab!! but i've seen even bigger ones in Japan itself.. in that photo, the 1st thing that caught my attention is the crab, and then next is that guy, haha!! what a priceless expression on his face!! either he wasn't happy that Anay was shooting him, or before he actually wanted to pose a smile on his face Anay has already pressed the shutter and left!! muahahaha.. but only that fake crab?? they did not have other nice "Japan mari" freebies for the people?? show us your loots Anay~~

    1. Hahaha, I saw that guy expression too...Lol

I got no loots to show except many brochures and flyers which makes good toilet papers! Wakakaka

The guy gave me permission to snap the photo cos I told I was a Yakuza!

    2. such a dismayful comment that is!! nobody ever hope for the Fukushima spills to happen and surely joking on the radiation sounds very offending and affronting to me.. put ourselves in the shoes of people who got affected and suffered from this mishap, it is undoubtedly agonizing.. not only teachers, but everyone should know, we do not do unto others things we do not want others to do unto us..

    3. It's the same distasteful type of comments that we would not want to hear people mention to us, say for the sad MH370. :(

      Delete
    4. Muahahahaha! I have been hearing about the radiations too and covered up news even in Malaysia. I just have to play safe and travel with open eyes & heart. Dangers are everywhere and not in Japan alone.

MH370 news has shown us how ugly the Malaysians and foreigners could be. They love to benefit from other people's miseries. How sad!

  27. Good morning.. Come early morning and office no internet connection (again)! So I had to tuk-tuk from my phone.. So today cannot long long comments ya.. Was on half day's leave last Friday coz G kena chicken pox (from his elder brother, who else)..

Wah so song, go travelling again.. My last travel was to Guangzhou in May 2010 just before I got pregnant with Kz.. Then after that it's home-office-home.. Occasionally home-grocery store-home. I hope to travel soonest as possible again but I have to wait for both the kids to be bigger first... My mum just complained a minute ago she 'kau mm tim' the two rascals who has to overnite at her place coz the hubs is in overseas for work..

I never like going to MATTA fairs coz of the crowd and all.. But I heard if there's really a bargain and you know how to dig it and manage to grab it, then its very worth it..

Since I'm so late liao and even if I guessed correctly, there are already more than 3 commenters with the same answer.. My guess would be a cruise to Thailand.. Based on instinct.. No reasons..
