Happy & Wise Shopping My Way

The world is getting sick with so much disasters, wars and political circus performers growing each day. All this would definitely trigger our global economy's inflation which will result in affecting our lifestyle and food on the dining table. I have started to pay more attention to every dollar I spend now. At least, I could still enjoy my lifestyle but with careful & wiser spending. I am a real bargain hunter for anything from hotels, air tickets, food and even my underwears!

You can call me "Aunty" for shopping online often, buying dresses and stuffs for my wife too! She is too humble and thrifty to pamper herself, so I took over her wardrobe and replenish them. I watch a lot of Korean dramas and observed their fashions there. I ended up buying for her & myself too. I do enjoy shopping online as they could save me valuable time to search for updated designs besides getting best price offers. I have seen their 'behind the door' operations and would highly recommend to shop online sometimes as they have little overhead for shop rentals and manpower.

Another all time favourite is going to the ColdStorage in OneUtama often. I must confess that I would always head to their shelves that displayed all the "Clearance Goods". It could excite me! Their expiry dates are close but still edible and perfect!

Look at this good example of the jars of dressings from USA! They are clearing for 99 sen each!!! Just add your own taste and create your own flavour dressings for your salad or whatever! Innovative experiment!

Here's many cans of soups to clear. I often bought many types of canned and bottled food that were aliens & new to me for taste experiments. I was curious to try and they only costs like under RM3 for American Potatoes or Chocolate Sticks & many other delights. With every dollar saved, I would be fighting inflation and hopefully go for more holiday trips!

  1. Good heavens! How come I never noticed their clearance shelf? You are very wise. I understand that some food items are still good 6 months after the expiry date. I'll have to look out for the clearance goods next time I go there.

  5. you are Aunty?? no lah, who said so?? you are GRANDMA!! muahahaha.. errr, i also like browsing online but rarely purchase the things, because still quite skeptical about the quality and i am still old fashion lah, for clothes, i would always prefer to put it on, look into the minor to see if it fits and suits me or not before i consider whether to buy it or not.. but other than clothes, i have actually bought gadgets, food vouchers etc from the group discount websites.. those are indeed good bargains dei~~

I also have same problems like you and must try on before buying cos our hippo shaped bodies would not fit in any clothes easily. My wife is thin like pencil and all dresses sold online have standard cutting now. I am only expert in buying her stuffs.

  6. needless to say, i being a person who likes to shop in supermarkets, will always be very sensitive on the prices!! those "Reduce to Clear" corners sure will attract me.. but of course, we all know why the price is reduced.. so i always check on the expiry date and make sure that i am able to consume the product before it's expiry lah, else no point buying just because it's cheap but end up keeping aside and throw away after expiry.. hmmmm, from 11.99 to 0.99?? i supposed that is gonna expired in two day's time?? :p

    1. I also shop online, for myself and the kids.. Coz I got no time to go shopping, so shopping online is still the best option.. But I still prefer the old fashioned way - to touch the material and try it in the fitting room, haha.. Tak suka or tak ngam, boleh campak aje.. But if buy online and sudah beli salah, then dunno how ady..

    2. Anyway, yeah, I realize if buy online, certain things can be a good catch.. My kid's milk bottles are all bought online.. 3 Avent bottles cost about RM69.90 when I buy online, but market price is actually RM99.90.. So yes, if pandai cari, then can get cheaper stuffs..

    4. Oh I have never tasted this Baxter brands before but I have tried other soup brands and they were all good. You are a smart mummy to be able to find cheaper goods online. Certain things would be cheaper as they need to clear stock. I wonder where else have ColdStorage besides 1-U and MV? Need to ggogle la.

  8. errr..somehow I won't got these food as it's going to expiry soon. And, though it may last for a short while before expiry after you bought it, I wonder if its safe to consume as you know, these are manufactured products. Better to be safe and buy 'fresher' and newer cans.

I seldom shop online, there are two times where I shop online to buy fashion clothes but wasn't a very happy experience cos when the clothes arrive, the materials wasn't very satisfactory but sometimes very tempted by the photographs on those shopping websites, I prefer to shop physically where I touch the materials and try on the clothings

  27. Hey! This is similar to my post today but I did not highlight the pre-expiry cheap prices. Once I blogged about it and somebody commented and scolded me - said businesses would go bankrupt with people like me etc...etc...etc... I thought I was doing them a favour, promoting what they're trying to sell off before the due date. I was so upset I just deleted the whole post.
