My Car Camera Recorder

I should say this blog post is inspired by Blogger ChrisAu who labelled me the Grand Daddy of Stories Telling... Years ago, other bloggers like SK-Thambee even called me a Grandma!!! So once upon a time...

Many moons ago, I was driving out for lunch with my accountant seated on my left. I was driving very slowly out of our factories hub which has so many parked containers with many forklifts unloading new shipments daily like onions, potatoes, mineral waters, hard wares and everything under the sun. Suddenly, a motorcyclist darted out very fast from the side and he lost control on seeing my car. He slammed his brakes but skidded some distance before crashing onto my front. I had braked my car earlier and sat glued & speechless looking at the cyclist's bike skidding all the way to my front before being thrown off to the ground with multiple bodily injuries.

My accountant and I got down to have a 30 mins heated exchange with the Indian motorcyclists in his 30s. He was a familiar face as he worked for the big time gangsters who control & protect the many factories in the vicinity. Here, our whole area needs extra manpower as all the foreign security guards are too sissy to handle the daring robbers who even operate in broad daylights.
I was shouting out my lungs at the Indian gangster who kept arguing his rights. Finally, his Chinese tai-kor appeared with crew cut hair and tattoos to intervene. He took only 5 seconds to end our heated verbal exchange which contained plenty of vulgarities. Oh yes, no one can beat me with vulgarities when my liver gets boiled with hot steams raging inside my brain cells. The Tai-Kor witnessed the whole incident as he happened to stand behind inspecting some shipment. He did not expect his 'men' to deny and he blasted the Indian guy in fluent Tamil language. I was dumbed speechless at his tongue rolling out Tamil words scolding his 'men' to own up and pay me. All settled and happily ever after.

The incident disturbed my head for several days and even with my accountant being a witness proved insufficient should an accident case being brought up to courts. I thought back of the similar accident where a young teenager who rode in the dark night without helmet and crashed into my wife's car which was waiting stationary at the junction for her chance to turn into the side lane. The poor boy crashed and flung many meters away into a ditch. He broke his leg into 2 pieces and his mother who was a Datin, came to fetch him to hospital in a big Mercedes Benz. That incident was messy and traumatized my wife as she was a helpless & innocent victim, not knowing how the whole accident happened so quickly in the dark night. I had to make trips to the police station and had meetings with the insurance company as the victim's Datuk father wanted to sue our insurance for his son's shortened leg after 6 months. That tyrant Datuk had the horrendous cheek to take the case to the court when his son was under aged, rode without helmet and license!!! Luckily, my wife took some photos of her car's damage and by heaven's golly, I have the genes of my father's profession as the Forensic Chemist who specialised in all police cases and narcotics. I pointed out to the insurance panel on the damages and they were extremely pleased to throw the case out of court instantly.

During my trips, I have seen many cars and buses in China were being fitted with Car Camera Recorders which have also gained popularity in Taiwan, Russia and other countries too.  I thought this is really necessary to protect me if I have no clues to support myself. I checked around for this gadget and they were sold for over RM300-500 in our stores. I could afford it but I being the stingy-grandma wanted a better deal until I saw online from Groupon's. Bingo! I took the great risk to buy this cheapo at only RM59.00! (not inclusive of memory card)

I have used this for one month now and it works perfectly fine. It has "No Brand" and is Made In China. Adoi! This is not a paid post okay. Get one for yourself today!

    1. I am glad to hear that your friends are smart drivers today. Hope you can buy one too since this brandless one has proven good enough for me.

Over the Astro's China TV channel, they would broadcast nightly all the gory accidents and street crimes that were captured by car cameras! I reluctantly 'liked' to watch them as they were sometimes scary to see a truck hit a motorcyclist who was thrown high up onto the air and fell onto the paths of many passing cars. RIP.

Oh yes, all the countries might someday make it compulsory to install the camera recorders in their vehicles. It would greatly help to improve the traffic menace & systems and reduce crimes.

  5. YENDE BULANA!! oh my fing-fing!! luckily Anay managed to brake your car and didn't hurt the Indian motorcyclist but let he himself hurt himself.. sorry but I am not being a racist, IMHO many times Indian drivers are the most cocky ones, and like this case, they would probably blame the other party and push away all responsibilities, in somehow very indifferent attitude.. luckily Anay was also born in the slum in Chennai and can handle this situation - Mars clashing onto Earth, rock on rock!!

    1. Walau Eh Thambee!!! What a bombastic & mega sentence to express! Mars clashing onto Earth, rock on rock!!!!.... You must teach me to curse more. Wakakaka

Yeah that Indian guy was turning his stories in many circles like tossing his roti chanai on the wok. Anay's head also giddy.

    2. If petite lady driving and this thing happened, I think that poor girl sure kena cursed and bullied and to swallow everything.. Yikes.. Girls must curse more I think.. Must learn how to be vulgar too.. Hahahaha

    3. It always happened here in KL where lady drivers would get bullied and verbally abused until they broke down in tears!

  6. luckily this Tai-Kor of Justice came to help and settled things within just 5 minutes!! wow, he must have been a great leader because he can blurt out Tamil so fluently, and certainly that is what make his Indian followers respect him.. really respect him for being so righteous and sided no one but the truth!! Anay should take the chance to make friend with this Tai-Kor lah, so that in the future, nobody dares to bully Anay already..

    1. Read carefully dei....Not 5 minutes but 5 seconds! He merely yelled out in Tamil - Shadap and pay up!

You bet, I have to wave to this Tai Kor every time I drove past him like saluting to Hitler or Stalin. That day he could have been abusive and sided his 'men' by bullying me. My bosses hired Indian Gangsters to guard their completed factories as they are most feared fellas amongst all tyrants.

    2. I hate having to wave and "tabik" to guards or people or something.. Like owe them something or what.. Very mafan one la.. Waste my time somemore.. Everytime see him, must "tabik" and wave, hou sien.. But I still do it, hehehehe.. Reflex action, when I see the guards everyday, I will wave also, kekekeke..

      Delete
    3. Well, we just have to smile and wave to stranger guards just to make them happy so that they might help us better during distress moments.

  7. yes, i also think it's very necessary to have this car camera setup in your car and have it on recording mode all the way from the start to the end of your journey!! because your passenger will not be a strong witness and whatever happened that has been recorded shows a steel proof and evidence.. the video tells them all, what happened and how it happened, and powderful enough to shut the mouth of the most cocky person!! RM59 is a good deal, from Groupon Anay's favorite website huh?? my friend has got the same one, but he has not been using because the memory card he has isn't supported.. i remember helping him to change the language from factory default to English, boy, it took us half an hour to figure out!! the so-called OK button is bloody hell located at the top right which is so far away from all other functional buttons below the screen~~ :D

This camera gadget even has the date and time to record precisely!

Oh yes, Anay has become a shopping queen in Groupons, Living Socials, Zalora and Easy Mall.
I bought the 16GB memory card which seems to work well. I am not sure what went wrong with your friend's set but it could be exchanged. I guess his and mine might be different as my set up was a breeze. The unit I posted in my above photo is the actual recorder set. Same boh???

  8. Ahhhhhhh!!!! That must be the camera in the taxi behind that recorded that incident in Singapore where the speeding Ferrari rammed the poor car in front and bulldozed it out of the way even though the traffic lights were red (for the Ferrari) and green for the poor car and the unfortunate victims.

    1. Hmm, I always think riding a motorbike is too dangerous, so many things can happen! Of course riding a car can be dangerous too but at least there's air bags and a 'shell' to protect us, in the case of accidents. But if with bikes, it's a whole different story.

Camera recorder, this is useful! I think it's important also, must pester my hubby to go and buy ;)

    2. I think nothing and no where is safe these days. Even when someone went jogging nearby got knocked by a bus and draaaaaggggggeeeed 100 meters away till bones exposed. Argh!

Yeah please buy one right away and give it to your hubby. He won't refuse and tell him that it is very common in overseas now. He is probably aware too and waiting for you to buy him as present la!!! Wakakaka

  10. Lots of this kind of unreasonable characters all around. That is why I avoid going to the crowded town centre. Just buy stuff from the shops in my quiet neighbourhood. A bit more expensive (in fact, more often than not, cheaper) also ok - the petrol, the parking fee and everything in the town already how much. And if so unlucky, meet this kind of fellas - right or wrong, camera or no camera, no matter - these people will not talk reason one and if they beat you up first - who will feel the pain?

Luckily, so far so good here. Did not meet anyone like that. Just that Chinese taxi driver at Bukit Bintang in KL who kept threatening me and pushing his body against mine. I think he wanted me to punch first - so at the end of the day, I would be the one making the first move, the one in the wrong.

    1. Oh yes, we are aware that KL's taxis in Bukit Bintang are mostly notorious and bullies! Better avoid the Chinese taxis, sadly...... Next time ask Kaldip to bash them up!! I thought you never need a taxi in KL.

I also started shopping online as it saves me time and money. I noticed usually some clothes sold online are not available outside too. In KL, groceries are cheaper at bigger hypermarkets which often gave me parking headaches!!!

  12. I saw this camera thingy on Youtube. Very useful in cases of dispute. There are many characters who will lie between their teeth to push the blame when they jolly well know they are in the wrong. It's your word against theirs and with the camera, the proof is all there. My partner always laments that driving standards are at an all time low. I don't drive but I have to agree with him.

  16. my younger sister told me bout this car camera thing. i thought it had to be specially fitted into the car, didn't know i could just get one off Groupon! lol!!! definitely considering this as i've just gotten into an accident myself which was totally NOT my fault. the other person was pulling out a junction & came into me on a straight road. still the police did not rule in my favour. like, wtf?! absolute MADNESS.

in any case. accidents are a bitch & a half to deal with. nobody will ever admit their fault even when they're so clearly in the wrong!! i don't get that. if you've made a mistake, just admit it & apologise & everything can be moved along much quicker.

  17. Yeah, a car camera is pretty useful since the roads over here can get pretty crazy!

Sorry to hear about your wife's incident, yeah I agree that underaged kids shouldn't be driving or on a motorbike, a lot of them don't know that they haven't STOPPED growing and if there's damage to their growth plates (at the bottom of the leg bones) before they're 21, they WILL end up shorter than if the growth plates have not been damaged.

I think if the ads change to this instead of Berhati berhati di jalan raya, there will be more results!

Happy Deepavali To All My Hindu Friends

I had a very hectic day today which drained all my energy. My car's air-con had a leakage and it had to stay overnight at the workshop....
