I should say this blog post is inspired by Blogger ChrisAu who labelled me the Grand Daddy of Stories Telling... Years ago, other bloggers like SK-Thambee even called me a Grandma!!! So once upon a time...
Many moons ago, I was driving out for lunch with my accountant seated on my left. I was driving very slowly out of our factories hub which has so many parked containers with many forklifts unloading new shipments daily like onions, potatoes, mineral waters, hard wares and everything under the sun. Suddenly, a motorcyclist darted out very fast from the side and he lost control on seeing my car. He slammed his brakes but skidded some distance before crashing onto my front. I had braked my car earlier and sat glued & speechless looking at the cyclist's bike skidding all the way to my front before being thrown off to the ground with multiple bodily injuries.
My accountant and I got down to have a 30 mins heated exchange with the Indian motorcyclists in his 30s. He was a familiar face as he worked for the big time gangsters who control & protect the many factories in the vicinity. Here, our whole area needs extra manpower as all the foreign security guards are too sissy to handle the daring robbers who even operate in broad daylights.
I was shouting out my lungs at the Indian gangster who kept arguing his rights. Finally, his Chinese tai-kor appeared with crew cut hair and tattoos to intervene. He took only 5 seconds to end our heated verbal exchange which contained plenty of vulgarities. Oh yes, no one can beat me with vulgarities when my liver gets boiled with hot steams raging inside my brain cells. The Tai-Kor witnessed the whole incident as he happened to stand behind inspecting some shipment. He did not expect his 'men' to deny and he blasted the Indian guy in fluent Tamil language. I was dumbed speechless at his tongue rolling out Tamil words scolding his 'men' to own up and pay me. All settled and happily ever after.
The incident disturbed my head for several days and even with my accountant being a witness proved insufficient should an accident case being brought up to courts. I thought back of the similar accident where a young teenager who rode in the dark night without helmet and crashed into my wife's car which was waiting stationary at the junction for her chance to turn into the side lane. The poor boy crashed and flung many meters away into a ditch. He broke his leg into 2 pieces and his mother who was a Datin, came to fetch him to hospital in a big Mercedes Benz. That incident was messy and traumatized my wife as she was a helpless & innocent victim, not knowing how the whole accident happened so quickly in the dark night. I had to make trips to the police station and had meetings with the insurance company as the victim's Datuk father wanted to sue our insurance for his son's shortened leg after 6 months. That tyrant Datuk had the horrendous cheek to take the case to the court when his son was under aged, rode without helmet and license!!! Luckily, my wife took some photos of her car's damage and by heaven's golly, I have the genes of my father's profession as the Forensic Chemist who specialised in all police cases and narcotics. I pointed out to the insurance panel on the damages and they were extremely pleased to throw the case out of court instantly.
During my trips, I have seen many cars and buses in China were being fitted with Car Camera Recorders which have also gained popularity in Taiwan, Russia and other countries too. I thought this is really necessary to protect me if I have no clues to support myself. I checked around for this gadget and they were sold for over RM300-500 in our stores. I could afford it but I being the stingy-grandma wanted a better deal until I saw online from Groupon's. Bingo! I took the great risk to buy this cheapo at only RM59.00! (not inclusive of memory card)
I have used this for one month now and it works perfectly fine. It has "No Brand" and is Made In China. Adoi! This is not a paid post okay. Get one for yourself today!
