How To Get Rid Of Lizards?

I don't hate lizards at all. I even play with small lizards by catching them with my bare hands and soaked them in a pail of water until half drowned! That was when I was a kid. I know, I was cruel but not anymore. You might say that I never killed them but gave them good baths.

Over the years, I had headaches with the bigger lizards who would swarm my home at night to feed on insects. They would drop the poo all over my altar and rooms. I would not mind their visits but they should poo outside or in my toilets. I tried to buy all sorts of repellents but they didn't help at all. The lizards still came and laughed at me with that tsk tsk tsk tsk sound!!

Then I heard some grandmother remedy tales that we should use the fresh serai leaves (Lemongrass Leaves) to keep the lizards away.

I found this idea unsuitable as I might need to grow many bushes at home to get fresh supplies. By then, these bushes would attract snakes and I have to start buying sulphuric powder to keep the snakes away. I was in a dilemma until I saw some neighbours shared the idea to buy the concentrated Serai Liquid instead and I sprang into action immediately.

I bought a bottle from Hero Market and poured it neat into my spray bottle. I zapped the spray and aimed all the whole corners of my ceiling and window frames. The lizards have said good bye to me and went to my neighbour's homes! They hated the nice smelling lemongrass in my home.

Now I miss the lizards!

HAPPY WEEKEND MY FRIENDS!

  5. Well, nice tip, anay. Many insects hate the smell of lemon grass. When I stayed at Park Royal Hotel in Penang, the whole swimming pool and lobby have very strong lemon grass smell. I love the smell of lemon grass. I believe this smell keeps lizard and mosquito away. I need to buy a bottle of concentrate lemon grass liquid now.

  7. i used to catch the lizards at home with bare hands when i was a kid, but i never dip them into water!! holy that is so insane and inhumane!! the most i would just catch roaches, then pour hot water on them, and then scoop a teaspoon of ENO and throw on them.. and then enjoyed looking at the roach struggling (until dead) under the bubbles and fizz of the eno+water reaction~~

  10. I have lizard problems too. They decorate my light switch and walls with their poo! Once a lizard jumped out of my onion basket and gave me a hell of a fright! Then it fell plop on the floor and pengsan right there and then. I was scared to go near it and half an hour later it was still there but very pale. I knew it had KO and I had the unpleasant CSI job of picking it up from the floor (using plastic bag to protect my had. Geli!) and dispose in the bin. Eeeks!

  13. Ahhhh, lizard post! I also have problems with lizards.. I guess every household does.. Just this morning I saw a lizard in the toilet and quickly asked my hubby to kill it.. But he just open the shower and splashed water on it.. The fella escaped very quickly and gone elsewhere to hide inside the toilet.. I was so pissed off, why cant hubby just use the mosquito spray? We have two bottles of Ridsect in the kitchen! Arrgghhhh... And the last time I bumped into a big fat lizard, I used the mosquito spray on the fella first, then vacum him up! Heh!

  25. Arh...I hate lizards as well as afraid of them. And they are so fast where when you chase them out from your home, chances are they will get panic and drop onto your room from the walls and that even worse. Worst still, if they leave their tails as a souvenir for you.
    Good suggestion, will try it.

  28. I think it works for house lizards but not monitor lizards coz my neighbours have serai and there's a HUGE MONSTER monitor lizard at my house in Sibu. It's at least 6 feet including the tail and everyone wants to catch it (to eat it) but we've only seen it a couple of times, scared me once when I opened the back at 5 am back when I was working in Sibu.

Merry Christmas to you and your family mate! :)
