Healthy Meals @ Simple Life

I was not being brought up to eat vegetarian meals all my life. I always believed it was only for goats, rabbits, religious people and health freaks to indulge in this greenish bland diet. I ate vegan dishes many times after I met my wife but never really liked the cooking styles of those Vegetarian Coffee Shops. They seemed to use the same flour doughs, potatoes and cabbages to dish out 1000 wonders! Nah! I just swallowed them with the help of plain water.

This is not a paid post but I do wish the owners would pay me with free vouchers!
(**Muka Tembok**)

I have upgraded myself recently to bring my vegan wife to dine at several vegetarian outlets over the years. To my own opinion, I found the menus at Simple Life Restaurant is the most delicious and creative! Some meals actually tasted better than the originals using meat.

When I saw Groupons advertised them recently, I have bought so many vouchers of both Simple Life and another Vegan Brand Outlet to enjoy for the month of June. Good things, I must share, right??

Somewhere at Bangsar South's happening hub,
there's a CAPRI building.

There is one Simple Life's outlet on the ground level facing the road.
I always dined here and simply parked my car on the spacious road sides.
Their big windows allow me to look out for policemen!

Round 1 Meals - I paid RM36 for this "RM60 Voucher".

Round 1 - We drank 2 glasses of this Green Detox Juice that is so heavenly good!
They blended apples, celery, bitter gourds and another 2 forgotten aliens.
I felt SO FRESH & ALIVE after that.

Round 1 - Geez! I forgot the name of this Udon With Mushrooms!
It was SO DAMN DELICIOUS & TASTY!

Round 2 - We ordered other dishes for 3 persons.

Round 2 - The Fruit Tea tasted like Heavenly Nectar!
Must drink again tonight.

Round 2 - I must say that this Nasi Lemak is more appetizing
than many real Chicken Nasi Lemak.

We must eat well to live well okay.
I learn that meat has awful raw tastes
and the chefs need to use all types
of seasoning & flavours to make the meat taste superb!
Know what??
All the seasonings are vegetable based!
We can actually do away with eating meat.

No worries!
I will not post any Round 3 to Round 8.
I would always buy food vouchers that give very good deals
since the inflation & GST is killing my pockets.

  2. Simple Life, that first reminds me of the blog name of Anay's good friend dei!!! okay okay, Thambee knows Anay is sure going to shout at me for saying that to remind him of that moron, muahahahaha!!!

okay, enough of nonsense and rubbish from the world famous CB Mouth!! so this Simple Life seems to be quite familiar, is this the vegetarian branch of the famous restaurant chain Open Recipe which has got their halal cert revoked recently?? i guess this will not happen to Simple Life, since it is vegetarian and always halal (i supposed)..

oh, Groupon!!! what an almost-forgotten name that i have always been browsing their website for deals.. that means Thambee has not been online-shopping for quite some time already.. or also because Thambee seldom eats out nowadays due to reason stated in the last line of this post.. Anay still buys discount vouchers from Groupon, and i guess under difficult times like this, there are actually lots of choices and easy availability huh??

of course we all know Anay is not a born vegetarian.. he has been eating his favorite cheesy mutton curry with greasy chappati made of pork lard everyday when he was still in his slum in Chennai.. he was the one who introduce this cheesy mutton curry to Thambee and then "force" him to love it, muahahahaha!!! well well well, at least when relate mutton with vegetarian, we can say goats eat grass lah, right??

the food looks damn good dei!! i would also choose to have that greenish detox juice, of course cannot afford to drink it there lah, maybe can follow the recipe and juice the veggie and fruits at home.. that's a great idea huh?? the udon, where are the udon?? those brownish curly fried stuffs?? or they are actually hidden under the bowl below all the veggie?? anyway, Thambee has to say the nasi lemak looks superb!!! what are those in the curry?? mixed veggie like brinjals etc?? that would taste good i would say..

yeah.. i think we have to eat moderately in order to have a balanced diet in order to maintain a healthy life.. eat more veggie and less meat.. so now Anay will have veggie rendang instead of cheesy mutton curry dei..

    1. It was funny that I really felt that this Thambee would tease me about that Moron!!! Luckily Anay's mood is very good today otherwise all my vulgarities would fly out from your PC screen onto your face!
      Wakakakakaa...

I don't think the 2 Vegan Shops are related otherwise the Halal cert issue would have fished their names out too. Both their menus are different and prices are many world's apart too.

I have to buy vouchers often online since I eat out and entertain my father so often. The deals are always good and they never short changed the voucher-diners with poorer quality servings. The voucher deals are plenty and suitable for any size of diners with varied menus from meat, vegans and bread rolls.

Why do we think alike? I really started making fruit tea myself at home. It is very delicious and refreshing to calm my mind before sleep!

Dei...the udon was below the dressings of vegetables! I forgot to dig them out as usual. Have you not seen Udon before???

I always get instant goose bumps from your filthy mouth saying it is my favorite cheesy mutton curry with greasy chappati made of pork lard!!!! I would get diarrhea to eat such horrible food combo.

  3. Sometimes I yearn for vegetarian food... I remember one time when I was going home from the office, I drove all the way out of the town to get the curry vegetarian meal for myself! hahahaa.. well, not so often but once awhile, I love the vegetarian dishes...

  4. Now ahh, got many "high class" places that sell vegan good, just like what you posted.. Gone are those stalls like chap farn stalls, and like you said, the food made from taupok+flour+potatoes.. Really.. But one thing I like about vegan chap farn stalls, their but their butter chicken is really nice, taste like the real thing, especially the creamy milky sauce.. There's once place, I think sister company la of Secret Recipe, called Beyond Vege, sells vegan food.. Everything is good there.. From fried stuffs to curry mee to "nam yue" rice, all nice.. Like the real thing, but minus meat..

    1. Yes I agree about this ingredient Taupok that is popularly used to cook any dish. I always eat in all the available vegan shops to conclude that SimpleLife is my top choice as their menus does not taste vegetarian at all...I frequent this YishenshuLohasBMSBeyondVegOrganicRecipe too. One of the above is terribly expensive!!!!

  5. Recently I tell myself to eat less meat, if really can, might just not to eat it. Remember my eldest sister always said I've such a bad tempered because I've too much meat. And also I need to slim down recently, so better start with my daily meal first.

    1. Oh no, why would a young lady have bad temper?? Life has been so kind to you too. I agree that scientific findings proven that too much meat toxic could stir bad emotions.
I would advise you to reduce meat and do yoga to release all the negative vibes. Good luck!!

Yep, I go to Yoga class every Friday, but I'm so lazy recently, have been skipped a few classes, shamed, shamed =[

  7. Ceh, I thought you are going to share some vouchers with us too! LOL!

I think it is good to have some delicious vegetarian fare once in a while, and I quite like the newer vegan/vegetarian outlets nowadays, like Beyond Veggie. But I don't think I can ever be a full vegan, I still love my meats too much, no matter how tasty or delicious vegetarian meals become, to me it will never cut it like how a meal with meat does. I think it is not so much the taste, but the texture, and the warmth meat gives you (vegans calls this warmth, bloated-ness) that vegetables will never be able to replicate.

Like I said, I love the occasional vegetarian meals, and I respect vegans, but I would hate it if they start preaching to me like it is a religion or something. Humans were originally hunter before we became farmers, we were meat eaters before we became plant eaters, so when vegetarians tell me things like "human body is not designed to handle meat, we should eat only vegetables", that is plain bullshit to me..

    1. What you said is very true and I am still inclined to both sides. However, I am proud that I eat more vegetables these days as I have aged. I still wanna blog till 100 years old, so kena jaga my mind and fingers to remain keyboard warriors! Muahahahaha

Remember I mentioned above that chefs used vegetable flavours to make the meat taste good! So we can actually substitute the meat instead. Give yourself time to grow up since you just found secret hideouts to see planes fly. Wakakakaka

I believe you will love them too but not eat on daily basis. I only eat them on alternate days to be fair to my wife.
We are very surprised that Yishensu's stuffs are sold at your place! Their food is very delicious and unique here in KL. That company started off from Kampar.

  12. i cannot say I hate veggies but I don't think I can live with such diet alone... I think my stomach will always look for those meat once in a while hehe and when I crave, i will definitely cheat too so maybe this kind of diet doesn't suit me well but interestingly, the meals you've shared here looks really appetizing to me...

it is also nice to see that you can have vouchers in handy.. i have never used one haha

    1. It is okay to eat anything but on the moderate basis as we all know that too much meat could be toxic and sometimes lead to cancerous sickness. I am not sure about the lifestyles in Philippines today as these discount vouchers is a craze worldwide and Malaysia. We have to be smart in selecting the good buys and not fall for those who try to dispose their goods.

  15. For veg food, I love veg curry fish rice, the green detox juice looks so refreshing and tasty to me, by the way, I saw egg in the nasi lemak, I thought veg food doesn't have egg, but I think different people have different thinking, some feel eggs are not eating meat so it is alright

    2. Actually there several types of vegans around and you can see them in Taiwan. Some avoids eggs. Some eat chicken eggs. Some avoid chicken eggs but eat duck eggs!! Sigh!!
Some are strictly vegetables and no 'fake meat' allowed. They don't believe that they should eat faked chicken or sotong made from bean curds etc. Me headaches!
