Wonders Of Polarized Sunglasses

I have been wearing glasses since I was 11 years old. My power has increased from a mere 250 to around 500 now. Oh My Hamsap Eyes!

I cannot live without sunglasses otherwise I would get migraine and throbbing headaches. I knew that sunglasses is a must when you drive in the snowy roads during winter as I experienced brutal winters in North America. It was all white and my eyes got almost blinded to see anything else. I always thought that I knew all about sunglasses until recently.

Nearby the factory hubs where I work, there are several peddlers hawking their wares by the five foot ways outside the shops. There was this friendly Malay guy who often called me out to buy his sunglasses. I politely replied him that I am short sighted and his powerless lenses would not help me to move around. Suddenly he brought out those huge sunglasses that could be worn over our powered spectacle frames and started his sales talk. I stood and listened.

Speaking like a qualified Dr. Optician, he explained that only Polarized Sunglasses should be worn to protect our eyes besides shielding away glares that hindered our partial visibility. Take a look at his sticker on the mirror now.

Our naked eyes could see a man with a fishing rod.

Now Dr. Optician placed his polarized sunglasses over the same sticker and the fisherman has caught a huge fish which could not be seen with our naked eyes!!

I was speechless!

Dr. Optician explained that only those sunglasses with the Polarized Sticker on the lenses are the suitable ones. That was interesting to me! Maybe I should get one and see something else too!

  1. Hello and good afternoon everyone.. 1 more hour to 5.30pm and you publishing this post now is the most right thing to do, haha.. Then I can spend some time to read and comment, and then it's 5pm liao, nice!

Oooo, princess here wears glasses since she was 10.. Power started from 250 and now, should be 1000 I think.. Really.. Years ago, right eye about 500, left eye about 250 .. Now should be 1000 liao.. And princess has astigmatism too on both eyes, maximum reading! Scary!

Ooohhh, I know what Dr. Optician Quek is talking about.. Got some logic one.. I've seen people putting this "thin slice of dark frame" over their own spectacles, and treat them as sunglasses.. Two in one, win-win situtation.. But now, there's this thing called dunno what frame, it turns "black" and dark when you are under the sun, and it turns clear again when you are indoors.. What do you call that?

  3. I am shortsighted too. Is it a good idea to get sunglasses from the street vendors? If they are of the same quality and specifications as the ones sold by opticians then I suppose it is alright.

    1. Most branded sunglasses today are made in China but labelled with Italian or French designer names. Those at roadsides are also from China too, not much difference sometimes.

  8. hmmmm, Anay bought your sunglasses from this Dr. Optician?? Thambee thought Anay always buy expensive sunglasses prescribed at renown optician shops only!! or at least Anay get them from online shopping websites while you are shopping your clothes for Letchumy.. you know, only up to certain amount that we can enjoy free delivery, so many times we have to add on some knick-knacks and what-nots to get free delivery..

  28. Great blog, how can one distinguish between fake and original polarized stickers in sunglasses is good to know. It is important to check the sticker or any other marks , I bought sunglasses from a famous brand online at Lenspick

  29. This is good website. Thank you for publish my post. Best polarized sunglasses have a tendency to have lenses that are a few times bigger than your eye attachment and are intelligent. They have a tendency to have outlines that snare behind the ears. Most contemporary aviator sunglasses are captivated however pilots won't wear aviator sunglasses as they can make seeing other air ship difficult.
