I went to eat durians with a friend together with our wives recently and he posted my photo in his instagram. I was so surprised to see myself drinking the water from the durian's skin at the stall in Cheras. My wife had earlier taught me that it is a popular remedy of old wives tales to reduce the bodily heat and bad breaths after eating so many durian fruits.
Oh well, I tried it and felt good after that durian water drinking rituals. No bodily heat and no bad breaths or smelly fingers whatsoever! Have you ever tried this?
*****
I actually never tried it although knowing the old wives remedy.
ReplyDeleteHihi
I thought it was a silly old wives tales but just tried it for fun.
DeleteI have tried it but because it was such a long time ago, I cannot remember whether it worked. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI am sure it worked.... Simply because no bad odor and heaty body.
DeleteYes, numerous times and like PH, it has been ages since I have done that... cos nowadays, we buy durians without the skin, either tarpau back or never thought of doing that...
ReplyDeleteI think to eat durian pulps directly from the fruit is more exciting and traditional. Someday we might eat durians from the cans too. Muahahaha
DeleteUsed to try it long time ago, but they packed it, without the skin...
ReplyDeleteNext time soak the durian seeds into the cup of water and drink it. Bingo!
DeleteGood evening TM, the sky now is dark, looks like gonna rain...
ReplyDeleteGood evening. It is hot here and the clouds look dry without signs of rain.
DeleteHello twilight man, i love durian but the thought of drinking water from its skin sends a shiver down my spine. I always have a 600mL mineral water bottle next to my durian though before i even open it - but you are right, water is good to prevent "yit hei" (heat).
ReplyDeleteWater is our best friend always. I heard of silly websites saying coke had killed people who ate durians and drank coke right after.
DeleteHi!Drinking the water, you look very satisfied. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes it was to soothe my mind and pacify myself. Have you eaten durians?
DeleteHi!Drinking the water, you look very satisfied. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have tried this before and it works!
ReplyDeleteHigh 5! As long as no smell or heat, means it worked lah. LOL
DeleteI cannot imagine what's the taste like =_=
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of durians at all, hehehe!
What a sad thing that you don't fancy durians! They are the best fruit in the whole universe!
DeleteOh yes, heard of that, in fact, tried that. Some say if you wash soak your fingers in the water (contained in the durian shell), the odor will go away in no time.
ReplyDeleteI tried that too and washed away the smell completely! Magic alright!
DeleteI don't eat durians, so I've never drank from a durian shell obviously but, in my last trip to Sitiawan, my friends who ate at a durian stall did exactly that....they believe it reduces bodily heat too from eating too many durians! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat another sad news to hear another blogger who disliked durians. Try one lah...veli shiok and nice to eat them.
DeleteThat's the way my father taught my siblings too, though I don't eat durians.
ReplyDelete3rd person here who dislikes durians... They are the best fruit with rich nutrients.
DeleteWe did this all the time back when it was normal to open our durians ourselves at home. Nowadays we mostly get them in styrofoam packs so no more drinking from the skin anymore. I don't remember if they were particularly effective to be honest. I was still very young then...
ReplyDeleteMy friend eats durian using a spoon! That way no finger smells.
DeleteTry again drinking the water from the skin.
Oh yes, I've heard so much about this even though I don't take durians. This is real interesting! Enjoy your coming weekend, dear!
ReplyDeleteYou are the 4th blogger who does not eat durians. What a surprise to hear this as you are the one who loves challenging lifestyle and eating.
DeleteI did this when I was very young. Did not notice any significant difference. Maybe coz I was very young, so not too bothered. These days I don't even bother to do it. I can tahan panas one so never mind lah, no need all these.
ReplyDeleteI would try to drink coconut water after durians. More effective la.
DeleteI tried this back when I bought durians in their shells but to me there is no difference from drinking water from a cup or bottle as long as we drink more water after eating durians.
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense that we just need more water after durians. Whoever invented this idea, I just wonder....
DeleteI ever eat a durian and it’s not available here too... I was thinking it was similar to jackfruit but except the fruit inside, nothing is eatable in jackfruit.
ReplyDeleteSeems u like durians lot!
I read some websites that durians are not native in India but are growing well in Kerala. I had a good laugh reading someone's website saying it tasted so bad like someone French Kissing his dead grandmother!! Muahahahahaaha
DeleteRead this website - http://theindianvegan.blogspot.my/2013/03/all-about-durian-in-india.html
yes, i always do this.
ReplyDeleteI know you would do anything the old wives believed! Wakakakaka
DeleteI will do that if I had lots of durians in one go..
ReplyDeleteI also do that when I had marathon durian sessions. LOL
DeleteWe've been an entertainment group for 25 years,
DeleteEven we drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
I don't think the remedy works lo...
ReplyDeleteTried this remedy and don't think it's works >_< But the durian stall put the durian shell under the tap water, so u will automatically wash your hand using "durian shell water" ~.~
ReplyDeleteThis remedy works for me. It get rid the bad smell in my mouth and my hand too. Used it to wash the hands.
ReplyDeleteBurp....!!!
