The Kyoto Imperial Palace

Do you know the interesting facts that KYOTO was once the ancient capital of Japan? When it was moved the the present one, the name changed from KYO--TO to TO--KYO.

Our Japan trip was quite hectic as we tried to cover as many places possible in 1 week. The trip to The Kyoto Imperial Palace was the most relaxing as we were too early and had to wait for a few hours for the gate to open for the next limited visitors' session.

This palace grounds is very huge in rectangular shape that measures 1.7km X 0.7km with many buildings inside the enclosure. It was first built in the year 794 and it was destroyed & rebuilt all together 8 times!

The Entrance Arches and High Walls of the Palace.

So we slowly walked outside the gardens and perimeter of the ancient palace. We had lunch at the cafe and lazed under the Pine Tree forest. It was lovely to smell really fresh Pine Trees.

I collected many dried Pine Cones from the Palace Grounds!!! Feng Shui Expert - Lilian Too often advised that we should collect the soil from very wealthy people's homes but I collected many Pine Cones from the palace grounds!!! Hope I will become someone very powerful and rich soon.

We stood by the side's disused gate for a photograph shoot and their sensor alarm triggered off. The whole bloody policemen can running out and whistled to shoo us off like Dogs!!! Woof!

We saw a small shrine outside the palace and went inside to pay our respects. The Japanese culture often have these little pieces of woods to write your wishes to hang up.

There was a hairy caterpillar hanging itself and many men took lazy naps in this park. They wore office suits and hid themselves there. If you cannot find your work staff at work, try to look for them at the KL or Taiping Lake Gardens or Penang's Botanical Gardens!

We had little time left and decided to dance around the trees!! This special photo is dedicated to the world's famous & most talented blogger SK0617 who never failed to tease me and wife to run around the trees!

This lady was the appointed official tour guide who spoke the most beautiful American-English I ever heard from an Asian individual.

Entrance to the palace's Main Building inside - Shishinden Hall For State Ceremonies.

The middle right photo shows the Main Building where the Emperor lived and slept. The Empress had her own separate building which was closed to visitors.

Close up of the Emperor's retreat area inside his palace. The Princess below lives with me in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

They have so many beautiful and neat gardens complete with free form lakes and bridges that would be a haven for lovers. The Japanese are so creative in landscaping and pruning bonsai miniature trees! Does the heavens look like this? I want to be there!

The building that houses the Emperor's library with private court yards. Ahem Ahem.

  6. yeah, they moved the capital from kyoto to tokyo, and do you know why they named it as tokyo??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. kyoto is 京都 meaning capital in chinese (maybe also the same in japanese) whereas tokyo is 東京 meaning the east capital in chinese, which is true because tokyo is in the east of kyoto..

    1. but Letchumi also reminds me of somebody else.. you remember that Sadako in the movie The Ring.. instead of crawling out of the TV, she crawls out from the tree, and then scared Anay till he's hiding behind the tree~~ :D

wakakakaka, how nice is this different interpretation of that sweet photo?? :D

    2. so many other tourists there, i wonder did they see how awkward this Bollywood couples were?? :p

    3. The park was quiet and deserted as it was a weekday. The other ang moh tourists waited inside the Information Office area, so no one laughed at us unless i stripped OFF!

That palace is a National Heritage Treasure so it needed the top notch alarm to prevent burglars or Ninjas!!!

  12. Did you get to hang your wishes in the temple? I know many temples in Japan offer this "service". Gosh, Japanese have many wishes, some will go from temple to temple for different wishes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There are a number of temples devoted to a certain male anatomy also Yvonne! I bet SP would love to visit those temples. Or visit the festival. Fertility festival that has a huge wood, shaped like a phallus being carried around. ;p

      Delete
    2. I think SP lives in a shrine for Hamsaperor followers! You can hang your Ahem post stick wishes at outside his gate!!!

      Delete
    3. SP would not only love to visit the festival, he'll hugs the phallus and refuses to let go. Er, by doing so will his manhood get the extra uhm!?

    4. Lina, do Japanese have temples or shrines to wish for bigger boobs?? I need that. I can always draw myself with S-cup boobs, but in reality I'm scared to go under the knife.

      Delete
    5. LOL... SP sure will tie himself to the big pole and let Japanese to carry him on the streets! They spank him too! Kakakaka..

      Delete
    6. Ah Hua, the Duchess of Cornflour wanna worship the Boobs Shrine? I know they have in Japan - Karube Shrine in Okayama and Mama Chichi Kannon Temple in Aichi...!!!

Why go so far when you can pray at the SP Shrine in Petaling Jaya? Just put the Atapchi Biscuits at his gate and yours will manifest into a bowling balls.

      Wakakakaka!

    7. aiyo.. I no need to pray for it
all it need is to practice and keep the stamina..
      practice makes everything perfect..

  13. The Emperor didn't live with his Empress? Why is that so? So that the Emperor can have his Me-time with his concubines?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This palace is quite okay considering the Empress just lived in another wing. I didn't see any concubine quarters. If one visits the Forbidden City's palace in Beijing, his jaws will drop! They have big East and West palaces for Empress and many other areas for concubines. Sweat!... reminds me of that TV show - Curse of The Royal Harem.

      Delete
    2. Oh, that's mean Japanese Emperor was not as hamsap as our China Emperor. He's loyal to his Empress only.

      Delete
    3. Our Chinese Emperors were world class hamsaperors that SP can match. Do you think SP is a reincarnation of the Hamsaperor?? WHich one was most hamsap in China history where he bathed in the wine lake with gals?

    4. Hmm me as a hamsaperor?.. could be also..
bath in a wine lake with gals?

I never wrote them as I prefer to mumble my wishes to my Tuhan everyday. I should have bought the Ema pieces and give away as souvenirs!!!! Haiks!!!

I know got Mat Sallehs went to buy Chinese "Kong Teik" paper offerings for the dead as souvenirs to bring home! LOL

      Delete
    2. You sure you can bring home the ema?? No taboo, like the Chinese hell paper offering?
